When you try to open your Company or business file on Windows system and that file is not accessible and the error message is:
“Error -6190, -816 “ describe QuickBooks was unable to open the file [path] on the host computer.”
Reasons behind this error occurrence?

This error may occur when there is a discrepancy between transaction log file(.tlg) and QuickBooks Workbook files (spreadsheet) .qbw file.

2. Rename your .tlg file: Renaming these files does not cause any data loss. Follow the below steps to rename your transaction log file(.tlg)

Go to Windows Start button and click Explore.
Search the folder in which Company file is placed.
Now locate your .tlg file and right click to rename it.
Give it a new name.
Now try to open your Company file, if you still can not open then try the third result.
